Objectifs

International business requires a serious knowledge of cross-cultural relationships and management in order to work effectively and in harmony with foreign partners. This module will provide the students with examples coming from professional experience concerning cross-cultural management, with a focus put on 2 specific cultures: China and Finland.

Estimation of private study (outside of contact hours): 4 to 5 hours, preparation included

Contenu

The content includes an approach of key concepts:
  • Cross-cultural experience
  • Cross-culturel management styles
  • How to motivate people from another culture
  • Decision-making process depending on cultures
  • Culture and organisation (including company culture)
  • Cross-cultural teamworking, recruiting policy, product adaptation
  • Approach of Chinese and Finnish cultures (business etiquette, management style, negotiation, business meetings, socialisation)
  • Case studies
