The International Summer Business Program focuses on Strategic Business Development with Europe. It will expose students to how successful international businesses have established themselves in Europe and how companies can likewise expand successfully from Europe to international markets.
This two-week program gathers international participants with professional experience in various activity sectors. It may also be opened to Master’s students. The program design originally combines courses in Management with a real and concrete company case study. Participants have the opportunity to visit a business site of an international Lyon-based company and work in team on a company development, strategic or marketing case/project. Findings and recommendations of the groups are presented to the company at the end of the program. Students are provided with a direct insight into the company development strategy.
The courses concentrate on European Strategic Development and are complimented with courses in European Marketing, Cross-Cultural Management and Specifics of European Corporate Cultures. They provide the link between the management theory and the real-case study in the business environment. The courses are taught in English by both senior faculty staff and practitioners from local agencies who deal with international business development issues. The program strong comparative approach allows participants to better understand the strategy of business development with Europe.
Participating in the international Summer Business Program provides participants with the unique opportunity of being part of a multi-cultural classroom setting with MBA students from highly renowned Management Schools. Over the years, the program has included participants such as MBA Students from the Carlson School of Management, Minnesota (USA) and the Faculty of Management Studies, New Delhi (India).
Courses are taught in English, four courses in total which are taught by IAE Lyon senior faculty staff and practitioners. Participants are required to take all courses offered.
Each course is evaluated either through individual or group assignment.
The program confers an International Summer Business School certificate to all participants who pass.
A business site visit will be organised to an international Lyon-based company in order to provide the students with a direct insight into their development strategy.
Presentations are made by a company representative followed by a Questions & Answers session.
Students will then be set a current case study project which will be followed by a debriefing and results and feedback session.
These simple and genuine contacts allow participants to be immersed into the French culture and to discover different ways of life and local traditions.
Participants are given the chance to initiate international business networks.
