Objectifs

This course demonstrates the relevance of strategy and management control for companies. The link between strategy, structure and management control is the cornerstone of the course. It is is based on the online course of Professor Berland: http://www.cours-berland.fr/eboutique/

TEACHING METHODS
This course is based on an online course and includes all of its resources, as well as the preparation of seven case studies by the students. Moreover, students must prepare a study of a company in relation to control issues.
- Day 1 (1/11/2016): presentation of the basic concepts of stategy and control (Powerpoint slides).
http://www.cours-berland.fr/e-boutique/ (documents, video, etc.) . The students must read all of the online material before day one and two.
- Day 2 (2/03/2016): case analysis ABB; RHODIA; SVENSKA;
- Day 3 (2/15/2016): case analysis PATAGONIA, ITT, SEARS; Société Générale Kerviel
(https://wikisgk.com/). The case presentations can be done in English.
Oral presentation of cases (30 minutes) integrating a synthesis of the documents read and video watched in the course; the presentation is followed by a Q&A.
Individual study (10 pages maximun) on Strategy and Control must show the student's ability to understand the concepts and knowledge of the course and to apply them to a company case study. To be completed before April, 4th 2016.
- Personal computers and mobile phones may be used only for the purpose of the course during the course.
- All documents send to the professor are checked by an antiplagiarism sofware.
