Objectifs

This course aims to examine the links between geopolitics, macroeconomic relations and international trade. From lectures to business cases and thematic presentations by groups followed by collective discussions, this course values students' involvement and oral participation.  

Estimation of private study (outside of contact hours): 15 hours.

DIMENSION OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Environmental, Social and Governance aspects of international trade, notably climate change, poverty and economic development. 

TARGETED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

Analysis: analyze the possible issues in the key areas of a company/organization in international environment. Students should be able to analyze current and past economic and geopolitical trends and their impacts on international trade policies and decisions.
Expected level: “Mastery”: Have in-depth knowledge and be able to handle complex or unusual situations independently.

Thematic oral presentations and discussions:

Blockchains, Cryptocurrencies & International Trade
Impact of International Trade on Poverty
Climate: Are the international investment and trade regimes compatible with climate change reforms?
Supply chains: What geopolitical interests have governed supply chains? What are the current challenges and responses in face of crises?
Asia & Pacific: Identify key geopolitical trends in the region and their impacts on trade 
Development: Describe geopolitical approaches to trade between developed and developing countries
Trade Policy Instruments
Trade disputes and sanctions
