Published on February 27, 2026 – Updated on February 27, 2026
This research project on decision-making AI and human factors in industrial settings began in January 2026 and will run for four years. The projet is coordinated by Florian Magnani, Magellan Laboratory @iaelyon, and brings together an interdisciplinary team in France and Canada.
The ANR medIAte project addresses a central question:
To investigate this question, the project adopts a rigorous experimental approach, combining laboratory experiments and field studies in companies.
Objectives:
How does decision-making artificial intelligence (DAI) influence operators’ cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions?
To investigate this question, the project adopts a rigorous experimental approach, combining laboratory experiments and field studies in companies.
Objectives:
- To produce empirical results based on experimental contexts with high ecological validity,
- To formulate practical recommendations for the responsible integration of DAI
A scientific endeavor in the service of a more human-centered and responsible AI.
The project brings together an interdisciplinary team at the crossroads of management, engineering, and work psychology, with French and Canadian researchers from four institutions: iaelyon School of Management (Magellan Laboratory), Arts et Métiers ParisTech - École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers Cluny, Polytechnique Montréal and UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal.
The project team:
- Florian Magnani, Magellan Laboratory, Coordinator (Management)
- Laurent Joblot, Arts et Métiers ParisTech (Industrial Engineering),
- Robert Pellerin, Polytechnique Montréal (Industrial Engineering),
- Mario Passalacqua, UQAM (Psychology)
