An immersive experience for our American students with Renault Trucks and the Aoste Group

Published on January 24, 2025 Updated on March 13, 2025

As part of the Winter School organized during the 2025 iaelyon International Week, two groups of students from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Baruch College in New York, long-time partners of iaelyon, were welcomed in Lyon in January 2025.

Over ten days, these students had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in management on the campus in Lyon while discovering the cultural and economic specifics of our region.

Understanding the Economic and Industrial Dynamics of the Lyon Region

The Winter School program included a combination of enriching courses and visits of local companies, allowing the American students to gain a better understanding of the economic and industrial challenges of the Lyon region.

This year, Renault Trucks and the Aoste goup, two emblematic companies from our area and partners of iaelyon, opened their doors to provide students with an immersive experience. These visits allowed the students to discover the challenges, innovations, and specificities of these two major industrial players.

Visit to the Renault Trucks Engine Production Factory

During their visit to the historic Renault Trucks site, the students had the opportunity to explore the behind-the-scenes of truck manufacturing. The tour of the engine production factory in Vénissieux gave an overview of the company's influence, its history, and its key role in the transport industry. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Patrice Berger-Perrin for his warm welcome.

Production Management and Food Safety Challenges with Groupe Aoste

The visit of the charcuterie production site in Aoste (38) of the Aoste Group allowed the twenty students from Baruch College to immerse themselves in the world of high-quality food production within a company committed to social and environmental issues. Thanks to Romain Giacomini, Production Director, and Laetitia Roche, Continuous Improvement Manager, they were able to better understand the challenges related to production management and food safety issues. Additionally, they had the opportunity to taste the charcuterie and appreciated this gastronomic discovery, renowned in our region.

We would like to warmly thank our two partner companies for making this exchange of expertise with the students possible, as well as the teams whose enthusiasm and passion were key factors in the success of these visits.
