Christian Varinard
Dean, iaelyon School of Management

"It’s been about seven years that iaelyon School of Management has been a member of PRME and UN Global Compact. Our school has also been engaged since 2008 in processes of certification of services and international accreditations (Qualicert, EPAS-EFMD, AACSB) which have led to a larger internal understanding of social responsibility and our impact at large. These various commitments follow our historical culture of open and responsible organization, conscious of our impact on our ecosystem, and show that OSR (Organizational Social Responsibility) is a significant and permanent concern for iaelyon in its role and mission as an renowned public actor in the training in and research of management.

The role of a structure such as ours is to teach curious students who are open to the world that surrounds them, who will become professionals capable of contributing to the sustainability of organizations, both in their local community as well as internationally, and help evolve society in its complex and forever-moving environments.

This process cannot be done without a constant review of our practices on all levels in order to adapt them in a responsible and continued manner to identified needs and prioritized actions.  We also make sure that the dimensions of social responsibility are integrated in all our programs and research activities as well as in our links with stakeholders: students and graduates, teaching and administrative staff, businesses and organizations, links with the regions, environment and community…

In terms of social engagement, the leadership of iaelyon decided to put in place a dynamic of continued improvement, particularly with the support of motivated and responsible actors through transversal actions. The objective is that their ideas and suggestions are rapidly transformed into innovative, visible and useful contributions to society. Thus, our main ambition is to be recognized as a modern, public service institution that promotes social entrepreneurship, a role model for all actors and partners.

In the current context where OSR dimensions are having an increasing importance, the report shows that our school has continued social engagement though our teaching, coordination, representation and research.  It shows what has previously been done but most importantly our determination to keep raising the bar and continuing everything that we do to raise awareness and form consciences, accompany decision makers  and improve our internal practices in order to respond to society’s growing demand for sustainable and responsible development”
