A Climate Fresk in the frame of the iaelyon International Week 2023

Published on January 12, 2023 Updated on January 12, 2023

Each year in the frame of the iaelyon International Week, an international CSR Workshop brings together the international faculty, faculty and staff of the School’s CSR Steering Committee interested in sharing best practices around sustainable issues and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It has been taking place for eight years, first starting informally and structuring throughout the years as recalled by Lorella Pignet-Fall, CSR project manager in her welcome address.

For this edition, a Climate Fresh Workshop was organized on January 6th to focus on the issues related to climate changes. A unique opportunity to share the approaches and perspectives from eight countries namely France, Hungary, Latvia, Mexico, Poland, the United States, the Netherlands and Turkey.  The three-hour collaborative workshop monitored by Nicolas Guillet, an external Fresk Climate facilitator, allowed the participants to address the SDGs related to climate issues while developing their scientific understanding of their causes and consequences, and sharing their concerns and practices on the matter.

The participants were appreciative about the workshop and some will try to organize these workshops at their university, with colleagues and students. A good way to raise further awareness and to take actions to tackle climate change within Universities and schools across the world.

At the beginning of the workshop, everyone expressed the word they associated with climate issues. A series of notions such as migration, interdependency, scarcity, warming, etc were cited, showing how different the perceptions of the challenges may be, depending on the personal and geographic backgrounds. At the end of the workshop, based on the science and the perspectives, each contributor could give their views on the actions to be taken, and on their moods after building the Fresk.

A previous Fresk Climate was run at the School in November 2022, on the initiative of the Quality of Life at Work & CSR Alumni Club, targeting iaelyon faculty and staff, and alumni.  Conscious of its impacts as a stakeholder in the Higher Education and Research industry, iaelyon has also been a member of PRME and UN Global Compact since 2013.
