Bachelor in Business Management: an inspiring immersion into the industrial world

Published on January 27, 2025 Updated on April 7, 2025

First-year bachelor’s students in Business Management at iaelyon had the opportunity to experience four stimulating and diverse company visits at the start of the year. As part of the "Insight into the Corporate World" course, these immersions enrich their academic journey and help them to better understand the challenges of the industrial and technological fields.

It was a very memorable experience for the students, especially since it was for many of them their first encounter with a production site. Moreover, they had the chance to meet professionals who are passionate about their work and whose valuable testimonies are always a source of inspiration. Here is some feedback on these four visits, commented by the students.

KTR: A company committed to innovation and corporate social responsibility

The students discovered KTR France in Dardilly, a pioneering company in training and knowledge transfer solutions for the industry. They had the opportunity to discuss with Pierre Martin, founder of the French subsidiary, and several members of the team, who shared their passion for innovation and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). The company recently received the Lucie 26000 label, a recognition of its commitment to social and environmental responsibility. The students were able to explore the eco-renovated premises and closely observe how sustainable practices are integrated into industrial processes.

This visit dismantled our preconceived notions about the industry. Discovering an exemplary building and professions that align with our studies was truly inspiring.”
Rosalie Leclaire

Santos: an expertise and a sustainable vision

Another group of students visited Santos, a French manufacturer of electrical equipment for culinary preparation, coffee, and cold beverages. Santos represents a successful blend of tradition, innovation, and ecological responsibility. During this visit, the students explored the production site, the showroom, and met passionate professionals, including Aurélien Fouquet, Sarah Jouan, Alexandrine Stricker, and Roxanne Kerdiles, who explained the company's values and commitments.

For the first time, I discovered a company as a whole. The entire team was able to explain with pedagogy, kindness, and clarity the functioning of the family business, its values, and its commitments to quality and CSR. I was especially impressed by the dynamic vision of the industry they shared with us."
Romane Bard

Emerson: Innovation at the Service of Industry

Our students immersed themselves in the world of Emerson, a global leader in industrial automation. During their visit of the Saint-Priest site, the students attended a strategic presentation by Benoit Demarne, General Manager, and exchanged with various professionals from the company, including Eric Dubois, Sales Manager. They had the opportunity to discover the modern workspaces and the digital showroom showcasing Emerson's innovative solutions. This experience allowed our students to connect their theoretical knowledge with real-world practices while exploring the challenges of a sector at the forefront of innovation.

At first, I wasn’t particularly interested in the field of automation, but the professionals’ testimonials sparked a real interest in the industry for me. The passion and cohesion within the company were obvious, and I found the stories of women in leadership positions particularly inspiring."
Olivia Moulette

Mersen: An Immersion in High-Tech Industry

A last group of students had the opportunity to visit Mersen’s facilities, a global expert in electrical specialties and advanced materials for high-tech industries.
The students were able to closely observe the manufacturing processes while learning about the importance of innovation. Beyond production, the visit included meetings with professionals from marketing, purchasing, human resources, and management, providing a comprehensive insight into the upstream and downstream activities of production.

Thank you to the Mersen team for this enriching visit. It allowed me to better understand your sector and to discover aspects I wasn’t familiar with. I was surprised by the innovation and dynamics within your company. It gave me and my classmates the chance to explore another side of the industrial sector that we hadn’t considered due to preconceived ideas."
Annie White

These visits strengthened their understanding of current issues, particularly in terms of CSR, innovation, and sustainable development. A big thank you to the companies and their teams for their warm welcome and their willingness to share their expertise with our students!
